Fue bautizada como Testigo de Jehov\u00e1 en 1942 y detenida por la Gestapo en 1943. En 1944 fue deportada al campo de concentraci\u00f3n de Stutthof, donde tuvo que presenciar atrocidades indescriptibles. En 1945, fue rescatada y liberada tras una evacuaci\u00f3n forzosa a trav\u00e9s del Mar B\u00e1ltico. <\/p>\n\n<p>Hermine dijo que no hab\u00eda nacido h\u00e9roe, sino que hab\u00eda tenido que aprender a mantenerse firme. Su fe como Testigo de Jehov\u00e1 le dio el apoyo que necesitaba. A pesar de sus dolorosas experiencias, era una persona alegre, optimista y llena de vida.
