The Institute was sponsored in part by The Holocaust Education Committee of the Greater Quad Cities, St. Ambrose University, and Jewish Federation of the Quad Cities. Young Minds Forced to Choose&#8221;<\/em>\u00a0for students and the public at Walcott Elementary-Intermediate School, Iowa.<br>November 7-18<br><a href=\"https:\/\/alst.org\/en\/news\/international-activities-article-from-the-north-scott-press-december-7-2011\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"4650\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">>> Article from the North Scott Press, December 7, 2011<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Arizona Council for the Social Studies Fall Conference, Glendale, Arizona &#8211; USA<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Held at Arizona State University&#8217;s West Campus, the conference theme was &#8220;Get Connected Through Social Studies.&#8221; Exhibitors Kristin Walter and Renee Ochsner provided information about the Nazi persecution of Jehovah&#8217;s Witnesses and curriculum materials available on the Arnold-Liebster Foundation website.<br>October 28<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Diversity Explored by Contrasting Choices\/Contrasting Consequences During the Nazi Regime, Illinois &#8211; USA<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Middle and high school teachers attended this workshop by Gaye Flowers as part of the Illinois Council for the Social Studies Fall Conference at Harper College in Palatine. During a Skype interview, Simone Liebster answered commonly asked student questions related to her family&#8217;s experiences under the Nazi regime. A focus of the course was Simone Arnold Liebster\u2019s story as related in her book&nbsp;<em>Facing the Lion: Memoirs of a Young Girl in Nazi Europe<\/em>, highlighting choices and consequences of individual decisions. One student wrote: &#8220;Thank you for lending me your book. I&#8217;m returning it today and read every page of it. I found it irresistible; I couldn&#8217;t put it down.&#8221; Students at University Massachusetts Boston were joined by students at Cordage Park, Plymouth for a Skype conference with Simone Liebster on May 23.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Charles D.
