Memorial for persecuted Jehovah’s Witnesses to be inaugurated in 2026

After 15 years of intensive efforts, the foundation Stiftung Denkmal (www.stiftung-denkmal.de) has now initiated the erection of a memorial to the Jehovah’s Witnesses in Europe who were persecuted and murdered under National Socialism.

The 4.95-metre-high bronze sculpture in the shape of a tree trunk will weigh around 10 tons and will be located in Berlin’s Tiergarten park. The ceremonial handover to the public is planned for 2026 in a state ceremony. The Arnold Liebster Foundation will host an accompanying event on the day before.

To support the project, donations can be made at alst.org/donations. The Arnold Liebster Foundation is happy to issue receipts for donations and asks for support by the end of September so that implementation can begin in good time.
