Were there differences between the camps?

In every camp I experienced the same basic policy aimed at depriving us of humanity. We were given our names and given numbers. We were stripped of our clothes and forced to wear striped uniforms with a different colored symbol for each prisoner group. All hair has been shaved off. We were lined up like animals and counted endlessly in both the scorching heat and the freezing cold. The SS controlled the Kapos, prisoners who forced their fellow prisoners to work and were often even more brutal than the SS themselves.
