Arizona Council for the Social Studies Fall Conference, Phoenix, Arizona - USA

Held at Grand Canyon University, the conference theme was "The Social Studies Network: Connecting Arizona to the World." Exhibitors Kristin Walter and Renee Ochsner provided information about the Nazi persecution of Jehovah's Witnesses and curriculum materials that are available on the Arnold-Liebster Foundation website. Arizona Council for the Social Studies includes the Arnold-Liebster Foundation on its Websites of A.C.S.S. Affiliated Organizations & Classroom Resources for teachers and social studies specialists.

Holocaust: Contrasting Choices/Contrasting Consequences Then and Now, Illinois - USA

The Illinois Council for the Social Studies Fall Conference was held at Harper College in Palatine. Gaye Flowers presented a teacher workshop that included a Skype interview with Simone Liebster in France. An exhibit table featured curriculum materials related to the Nazi persecution of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Middle and high school teachers attended this workshop by Marge Fulton and Gaye Flowers at the Illinois Council for the Social Studies Spring Conference at McLean County Museum of History in Bloomington. Eyewitness accounts of the choices made by those who wore the purple triangle were provided through the vivid watercolors of Johannes Steyer and the testimony of Leopold Engleitner, survivors of Buchenwald Concentration Camp.
